Frequently Asked Questions

What is a doula?

A doula is a professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to their clients before, during, and after childbirth to help achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.

Many years ago childbirth was attended by a community of women to fully support a birthing mother including mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, traditional midwives, and other knowledgeable women. Birth should be treated as a sacred event still, as it was all those years ago!

Countless scientific trials examining doula care demonstrate remarkably improved physical and psychological outcomes for both pregnant, birthing, and postpartum women and their baby. Doulas have a positive impact on the well-being of the entire family.

Hiring a doula decreases:

- Cesarean rates by 50%

- The length of labor by 25%

- The use of pitocin by 40%

- The requests of an epidural by 60%

Do you perform any physical exams?

No; As your doula I cannot perform any medical prenatal exams. I am solely there to help educate and advocate for you during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

I will educate you on all your options for your baby's arrival as well as help you physically through the laboring process with an array of pain relief techniques.

How will hiring your affect my partner’s role during birth?

You partner's role in birth is EVERYTHING. It is so important that your partner is well taken care of during this process so that they can have the energy to tend to your needs!

I am not only your doula, but your partner's doula as well! I will encourage him to eat, drink, rest, and guide him through various laboring support positions to keep you as comfortable as possible so you can progress beautifully.

Do you take payment plans?

I do take payment plans! I am more than willing to work with you and your partner to best accommodate you financially.

I typically take 25% up front and you can pay the rest of my fee at your leisure up until 37 weeks gestation.
